How the H1 Tag Checker Works
The H1 is the main on-page heading, it tells both readers and search engines what a page is primarily about. Along with the title tag, it is one of the clearest on-page signals of topical relevance.
How this tool checks your page
Paste your page’s HTML source (from your browser’s View Source or Inspect Element). The tool counts how many H1 tags are present, shows their text and length, and, if you provide a keyword, checks whether it appears in each H1.
H1 best practices
- Use exactly one H1 per page, it should clearly summarize the page’s main topic.
- Include your target keyword naturally, but do not force it if it reads awkwardly.
- Keep it different from your title tag, they can be similar but do not need to be identical.
- Use H2 and H3 tags to structure the rest of your content in a logical hierarchy.
