Keyword Density Checker
Paste your content to check keyword density, word count, and the most frequently used words.
How the Keyword Density Checker Works
Keyword density is the percentage of times your target keyword (or phrase) appears compared to the total word count of your content. It is a simple, old-school SEO metric, but it is still a useful sanity check against both under-optimized content and keyword stuffing.
How this tool calculates results
Paste your content and, optionally, a target keyword or phrase. The tool counts the total number of words, counts how many times your keyword appears, and calculates the density percentage. It also surfaces the most frequently used words in your text (excluding common stopwords like "the" and "and") so you can spot unintentional repetition.
What counts as a healthy density
- A density of roughly 0.5% to 2.5% is generally considered natural and safe.
- Above about 3%, content starts to read as keyword-stuffed, which can hurt both readability and rankings.
- Focus on writing naturally for readers first, then check density as a final sanity check, not the other way around.
- Use related terms and synonyms alongside your main keyword rather than repeating it mechanically.
