This is a synonym and phrase based rewriter that runs in your browser. It is not an AI model, it works on English text only, and nothing you paste is sent anywhere. Always read the result and fix any wording that sounds wrong.

What Is a Paraphrasing Tool?

A paraphrasing tool, sometimes called a rephrase tool or text rewriter, helps you say the same thing in different words. People use one to avoid repeating themselves, to find a fresh way to phrase a sentence, or to shorten wordy text. This page does it with a built in list of synonyms and common phrases, applied in your browser.

How to Paraphrase Text

  1. Paste your English text into the box. You can use up to 1,000 words.
  2. Choose a mode: Standard swaps words and phrases for common alternatives, Creative picks more distinctive alternatives, and Shorter trims wordy phrases and filler.
  3. Press Paraphrase, read the highlighted result, fix anything that sounds off, and copy it.

What This Tool Does and Does Not Do

This is a rule based rewriter. It replaces listed words and phrases and keeps your sentence structure. That makes it fast, predictable and private, but it is not an AI model. It does not understand the meaning of your text, so it cannot rewrite whole sentences or guarantee that every swap fits the context. Treat the output as a draft that needs your review.

Modes Explained

Standard

Replaces common words and phrases with a close alternative, for example important with key, or in order to with to.

Creative

Uses the second alternative for each word, which gives more variety but needs a closer read.

Shorter

Removes filler such as very, really and just, and shortens phrases like due to the fact that to because.

Tips for Better Results

  • Read the result aloud. If a phrase sounds odd, change it by hand.
  • Check names, numbers, quotes and technical terms. They should stay exactly as written.
  • Run the tool on short sections rather than a whole document, so you can review each part.
  • If you quote a source, keep the quotation marks and credit the author.

Use It Responsibly

Rewording another writer's text does not make it your own work. Always credit your sources, and follow your school, employer or publisher rules about originality. A paraphrasing tool is meant to help you improve your own writing, not to pass off someone else's ideas. To check how a text matches existing pages, see our plagiarism checker.
