Title case versus sentence case
Title Case capitalizes every major word and is common for headlines and book titles. Sentence case capitalizes only the first word and proper names, which is how normal sentences are written and what many modern websites use for headings. Style guides such as AP and Chicago keep small words like a, of and the in lowercase unless they start the title, so after converting you may want to adjust those by hand.
What camelCase is used for
Programmers use camelCase to name variables and functions because identifiers cannot contain spaces. For example, the phrase user first name becomes userFirstName. Convert a list of labels in one go and paste them straight into your code.
Common uses
- Fix a paragraph that was typed with Caps Lock on
- Format blog post titles and headings consistently
- Prepare product names and column headers for spreadsheets
- Standardize text copied from different sources
- Create variable names for code
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between title case and sentence case?
Title Case capitalizes the first letter of every word, while sentence case capitalizes only the first letter of each sentence.
Does it work with Arabic text?
Upper and lower case apply to Latin script. Arabic has no letter case, so options such as Title Case will not visibly change Arabic text.
What is camelCase used for?
It is a naming style for variables and functions in many programming languages.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
Can I undo a conversion?
The original text stays in the input box, so you can pick another style at any time or press Clear and start again.
