Age Calculator for a Child
For babies and young children, years alone are not enough. Parents, nurseries and doctors usually talk in months, so the result also shows the total number of months and the extra days. If a child was born on 20 January 2025, then on 5 October 2026 the age is 1 year, 8 months and 15 days, which is 20 months and 15 days in total. Use the same steps and read the total months line when you need a figure in months.
How the Age Is Calculated
The calculator subtracts the birth date from the chosen date. It first counts complete years, then complete months, and the days left over. When the day of the month is smaller than the birth day, it borrows the days of the previous month, just as you would do on paper. Total days are the real number of calendar days between the two dates, so leap years are taken into account. The total hours figure is an approximation: it is simply the number of days multiplied by 24.
