Business Card Size and Print Tips
The cards are 3.5 x 2 inches, which is the standard size in the United States and Canada. Many countries in Europe and Asia use a slightly different size, such as 85 x 55 mm or 90 x 55 mm, so check the size your printer cuts before you print a large batch.
- Print at 100 percent. Turn off “fit to page” in the print dialog, or the cards will come out too small.
- Use the print sheet for home printing. It places ten cards on A4 or US Letter paper with thin guide lines for cutting. Thicker paper or card stock feels more professional.
- Keep important text away from the edge. Cutting is never perfect, so a small margin protects your name and phone number.
- Ask your print shop about bleed. These files have no bleed area. If you send them to a printer, ask whether they need extra bleed, and prefer white or light backgrounds if you do not have it.
Design Tips
- Choose one or two fonts at most, and keep the name as the biggest line.
- Pick strong contrast between text and background. Dark text on a light card is easiest to read.
- Add only the contact details you want people to use. Three or four lines are enough.
- Use a simple logo with a transparent background for the cleanest result. Compress a large logo first with the Image Compressor.
